Platform managers, HSE personnel, and department leaders needed a simpler and more visual way to understand barrier status, support decision-making, and strengthen compliance related to major accident prevention.
To address these challenges, Helmerich & Payne implemented Presight Barrier Management™ across the Askeladden and Askepott rigs. The solution integrates data from systems including DNV SynergiLife, OCS Competence, drills and training systems, and operational data sources into one unified platform. Through bowtie-based visualisation, automated barrier monitoring, weather-integrated operational guidance, and real-time dashboards, the system provides a dynamic overview of technical, operational, and organisational barriers. The solution is designed to support daily workflows and morning meetings, giving platform managers and offshore teams faster access to critical operational insight.
The implementation of Presight Barrier Management™ has helped Helmerich & Payne improve visibility into barrier health, crew competence, and operational readiness while reducing manual follow-up and fragmented processes. The project also increased internal awareness around barrier ownership, responsibilities, and safer operations. By combining real-time operational data, forecasting, and barrier visualisation into a single accessible view, Helmerich & Payne strengthened decision support, operational efficiency, and its proactive approach to major accident prevention.
